Every bottle is built around nine plant oils and extracts, each chosen for the way it cleanses, conditions or scents. Here is what each one brings.
Serenoa Serrulata Fruit Extract
A fruit extract from a small palm native to the southeastern United States. Saw palmetto has been studied in hair research, in both oral and topical forms.
Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Oil
An essential oil from the leaves of the Mediterranean herb. It gives the shampoo a fresh, herbal scent and leaves your scalp feeling clean and refreshed.
Panax Ginseng Root Extract
A root long used in traditional East Asian medicine, and a source of natural compounds called ginsenosides. In lab studies, red ginseng extract increased the activity of human hair follicle cells.
Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil
An oil from the kernels of the argan tree, rich in vitamin E and fatty acids. It leaves hair softer and shinier.
Phyllanthus Emblica Extract
Also called Indian gooseberry, this tart green fruit is a staple of Ayurvedic hair care. It's naturally rich in vitamin C and antioxidants.
Hibiscus Syriacus Bark Extract
From the bark of the Rose of Sharon, a flowering hibiscus shrub. In cosmetics, hibiscus bark extract is used as a skin-conditioning ingredient.
Salvia Officinalis Oil
An aromatic oil from the soft, silvery leaves of garden sage. It adds a herbal, cleansing freshness that pairs naturally with rosemary.
Cedrus Deodara Wood Oil
Distilled from the wood of the deodar cedar. Cedarwood oil has a long history of use in scalp-care products, and lab studies report antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity for Himalayan cedar oil. It also gives the scent its warm, woody base.
Citrus Reticulata Fruit Extract
The bright heart of our Citrus Fruit Blend. A juicy citrus extract that makes every wash smell fresh and uplifting.

HUSSSH uses DMDM hydantoin, which protects the shampoo from bacteria and mould once it's open. It works by releasing very small amounts of formaldehyde and is permitted in Canadian cosmetics within set limits. The manufacturer states it makes up 0.05% of the formula. If you know you're sensitive to formaldehyde-releasing preservatives, check with your doctor before using it.
Yes. The Citrus Fruit Blend comes from our tangerine, rosemary, sage and cedarwood botanicals plus a fragrance blend (parfum).
